Yet that is precisely what the Barbican is offering with its new season, called This Made Me Laugh. The Barbican asked David Sedaris, John Lloyd, Lenny Henry, Miranda Hart and other comedy luminaries to pick the film that makes them howl with laughter more than any other, and between April 10 and 16, those classic comedy films will be screened – most with introductions from the their selector.

The full line-up for This Made Me Laugh is as follows:
Friday April 10 – True Grit (Coen Brothers), selected and recorded introduction by David Sedaris
Saturday 11 – The Naked Gun, selected and introduced live by John Lloyd
Saturday 11 – Blazing Saddles, selected by Lenny Henry
Sunday 12 – This Is Spinal Tap (pictured above), selected and introduced live by Mitch Benn
Monday 13 – Bullets Over Broadway, selected and introduced live by Amelia Bullmore
Tuesday 14 – Clockwise, selected by Miranda Hart
Wednesday 15 – To Be Or Not To Be, selected and introduced live by Caryn Mandabach (producer of Roseanne, That 70s Show)
Thursday 16 – The Graduate, selected and introduced via Skype by Jon Ronson.
