Club gigs

Mon 2, Good Ship Comedy – A strong month for Kiburn’s finest, with the first offering including Ben Norris, Lost Voice Guy, visiting US comic Liz Miele and plenty more.

Various dates, The 99 Club – As reliable ever, though two dates stand out: Tuesday 3 (Cruttenden, Kumar, Robins and Ranganathan); and Thursday 19 (Goldstein, Cruttenden, Martin, Lycett).

• Tues 3, Gits and Shiggles – Tony Law and Bridget Christie are among the bill in Putney’s Half Moon.

• Various dates, Piccadilly Comedy Club – This weekend (Feb 5, 6, 7) Luke Toulson and Dane Baptiste line up, and on Feb 19 you have Bobby Mair supported by some excellent young comics.

Friday 6, Bush Hall Presents – A kingly bill as ever at Bush Hall, featuring Miles Jupp, Aisling Bea, Simon Munnery and James Acaster.

• Saturday 7, Downstairs at the King’s Head – Simon Munnery, Matt Green and Tim Renkow are among the performers on the 7th, and on the following Saturday the headliner is the imperious Glenn Wool.

• Saturday 7, Live at the Chapel – A stellar line-up at the Union Chapel: Paul Foot, Freeze!, Alex Horne and Sara Pascoe.

• Sunday 8, Sunday Special – One of the best clubs in the capital has another solid month, Sunday 8 is the pick with Liam Williams, John Robins and Sara Pascoe.

• Sunday 8, Pappy’s … Secret Dudes Live! – A fortnightly romp in Brixton with sketch heroes Pappy’s. On Feb 8 guests are Claudia O’Doherty and Lou Sanders, Feb 22 it’s Josh Widdicombe and Twins.

• Tue 17, Sabotage – Over in Bethnal Green you can catch Liam Williams, character comic Joseph Morpurgo, Lou Sanders and brilliant Canadian comic Bobby Mair.

• Fri-Sun 19-21, Comedy Store – At the Store this weekend is Adam Bloom, Gary Delaney, Ian Moore and a special secret guest.

• Wed 25, Ellis and Rose’s Brainwash Club – Harry Hill is the star guest at this ramshackle show in Bethnal Green hosted by Ellis and Rose, who once garnered a coveted 1-star review from LiF.

• Thur 26, Always Be Comedy – This fabulous club’s Brixton branch welcomes Katherine Ryan and Joe Lycett, and in Kennington on Thursday 5 you can see Abandoman and Nish Kumar.

Thur 26, Laugh Out London – James Acaster, Tony Law and Alex Edelman perform at LOL’s highly bargainous Hackney gig. Also LOL’s Brixton show on Feb 17 looks pretty handy.

 Solo shows

• Various dates, Soho Theatre – As ever some superb solo shows at Soho Theatre, notably party girl Luisa Omielan, visceral art-school comic Kim Noble, classic stand-up Carl Donnelly, rising star Dane Baptiste, recent QI star Sara Pascoe, downbeat young buck Liam Williams, and ace Aussie stand-up Sarah Kendall.

• Feb 10-14, James Veitch – One man takes revenge on email spammers and produces a wonderful comedy show out of it. Review here.

Sat 14, David O’Doherty Has Checked Everything – Irish whimsy behemoth performs his latest pearler.

• Thursday 19, Mark Watson – Watson’s latest one, Flaws, gets a one-off show in Islington. Review here.

 Charity shows

• Tue 3, Jo Brand and Friends – Stewart Lee and Robin Ince join Jo Brand for this fundraiser at Bloomsbury Theatre for Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK.

• Weds 25, Stand Up for Shelter – Eddie Izzard, Josh Widdicombe and Sara Pascoe lead the bill for this homelessness charity fundraiser at Hammersmith Apollo.

• Weds 25, Laugh Till It Hurts – And on the same night (awks!) at Bloomsbury Theatre, raising money for Mind will be Ed Byrne, Joe Wilkinson, Katherine Ryan and Holly Walsh.
