Strong comedy winds moving into Greenwich, Leicester Square, the City and Stratford this weekend … Here are LiF’s top 5 club tips for you
• Arthur Smith’s Pissed-Up Chatshow (Friday)
An abandoned super-posh City restaurant plays host to two weeks of comedy under the umbrella “Heroes’ Grotto of Comedy”, and this weekend professional Londoner Arthur Smith (above) presents his chat show where the guests are drunk and the host is sober. Guests are Miss Behave, LiF favourite Wilfredo, and Heroes’ Grotto head honcho Bob Slayer.
• Comedy Carnival (Friday)
A classic mix of old and new on Leicester Square, with “musical genius and international sex symbol” Earl Okin, the utterly charming Lucy Beaumont, and incisive stand-up Carey Marx.
• Laughing Boy Comedy Club (Saturday)
Solid stand-up over east in Stratford, with Seann Walsh and Angela Barnes.
• Up the Creek (Saturday)
Greenwich’s finest welcomes one of the best in the business, Ian Stone, a special guest comic, and arguably the best MC around, John Robins.
• Sunday Special
… and at the same venue on Sunday night you can see physical comedy heroes Pajama Men, Canadian maverick Tony Law, and that John Robins again.
